MARBLE VESSEL ANCIENT CHINA
A marble vessel.
It is carved with a pattern which reminds me a the *Stone bas-relief of the Han Dynasty in China. It was originally used as an ashtray, but it can also be used as a place to keep keys and other precious items. Or flip it upside down and use it as a stand to display a vase.
*Stone bas-relief is a stone material carved with images that was used for tombs and buildings during the Later Han Dynasty (1st~2nd century). It is said that various scenes of daily life, such as banquets and cooking scenes, were carved on the stones to give us a hint of what life was like in those days. You can see the image stones at the Tokyo National Museum!
